Macro Social Worker Interview Paper (Week 5)

For this assignment, students will interview a macro-level social worker with a Masters in Social Work in the community. This social worker may work at a student’s employer, internship site or may be from another agency of interest to the student. Students should clear the social worker of choice with their instructor before contacting the social worker. Using the questions developed in class and/or additional questions,, students should engage in a discussion with the macro social work practitioner about their work. After the interview, students will complete a clear and concise paper that includes the following:

1. Describe how your understanding of macro social work has evolved based on your

interview and the course content thus far.

2. Identify three additional insights about macro practice that you gained from the interview

and why these stood out to you. Be sure to connect what you learned to course concepts.

3. Discuss how ethical decision-making might differ from micro-level practice, utilizing

examples from your interview, course readings, and own professional experience.

4. Include as an appendix a brief biography of the macro social worker you interviewed,

including their organization, title, and main responsibilities.
