Broadly speaking, it can be said that a political scientist is concerned with power relations and the distribution of resources. In laymen’s terms, political scientists study government and all of politics from a scientific approach. Political scientists try to be as objective as possible, they use different scientific methods, like data or discourse analysis, and they tend to look for general patterns which can be applied in different situations.
