Using the school’s databases or a credible website, find two academic sources that you would like to use in your paper on healthcare rationing. You will then cite each source using APA format. After each citation, skip a line and write an annotation. Each annotation should do two things:
1 Briefly summarize the key ideas from the source (3-5 sentences).
2 Describe how the key ideas and/or information can help you support your argument. Be specific. Do not write, for example, “this source provides useful information” without explaining what useful information the source provides and how it connects to your research focus (2-4 sentences).
3 Explain what makes this source credible (1-2 sentences)
Here is a sample entry for an annotated bibliography (the source type is a book). In your annotated bibliography, you will have two entries that look like this, following the appropriate citation format:
Ehrenreich, B. (2001). Nickel and dimed: On (not) getting by in America. Henry Holt and Company.
In this book of nonfiction based on the journalist’s experiential research, Ehrenreich attempts to ascertain whether it is currently possible for an individual to live on a minimum wage in America. Taking jobs as a waitress, a maid in a cleaning service, and a Wal-Mart sales employee, the author summarizes and reflects on her work, her relationships with fellow workers, and her financial struggles in each situation. This article will help me to show that it is very difficult to live on minimum wage in America. It will help to put in perspective all of the struggles minimum-wage workers face, as it breaks down the financial expenses they face on a daily basis. It also will help me to show the personal struggles people face in minimum wage jobs, and the perception that people have of them simply because of the job they hold. This will ultimately aid in my argument that the minimum wage in America needs to be raised across the board to sustain a healthy standard of living. This source is credible because it is a primary source, based in the journalist’s experiences.
