An entrepreneurship organizational culture creates new businesses, solutions, or services to add value to the company (Hisrich & Kearney, 2012). They create new revenue lines from creative ideas and as a collaborative effort. These qualities are what create innovative business models that offer support, recognition, and motivation to its employees.
In 2017 our hospital gained approval through bankruptcy court to purchase a 49-bed healthcare facility struggling in a neighboring community. This other healthcare facility declared bankruptcy after losing $20 million in 2016. Many factors went into why this hospital was struggling. However, people in the community still needed access to healthcare and clinics. Our organization and senior leaders pride themselves on ensuring communities have access to healthcare. They recognized an opportunity to do something new by purchasing this system. One of the new lines of services they recognized the community needed was an OB/GYN. With the purchase of this system and its clinics, the community now has access to OB/GYN services in a multi-specialty clinic that was not there before.
